Territory artists Jessica Mauboy, Saltwater Band (pictured) and Geoffrey Gurrumul Yunupingu were winners at the 2009 Deadly Awards held at the Sydney Opera House Concert Hall in front of 2000 people. In its 15th year, the annual Deadly Awards recognize and celebrate Indigenous talent and achievement in Australia. NT dance diva Mauboy won 4 awards - the most for the night - including 'Song Of The Year'; 'Male Artist Of The Year' went to Gurrumul, with fellow Elcho Island residents Saltwater Band named 'Band Of The Year'.
