NT muso's and artists - you've got until March 15...


Arts NT would like it known that NT artists - including musicians - have until March 15th to get applications in for this year's round of NT arts grants, especially the Declan Apuatimi/J. Bird Public Art Fellowship, which "aims to supports professional development opportunities for contemporary artists" interested in practicing "public art".  There are also a range of other grants available. Looking for the 'Perfect Artist'...


Matt Gingold needs your help! The Melbourne media artist is on a quest to document as many creative people across Australia as he can! Called 'The Perfect Artist', it is a national video portrait project, funded by Arts Victoria and others. From March 9 - 14 Matt is setting up camp at Brown's Mart in Darwin, video camera in tow. He will shoot video portraits of as many NT creative types as possible - from musicians and performers to arts workers and administrators.

Red Plum & Snow 'go small'..


Hot on the heels of their 2009 release '20 Power Hits', NT band Red Plum & Snow will launch another new CD on March 12 at Happy Yess. Called 'Small Songs', the EP contains 5 new tracks by the melodica-noise trio (Kris Keogh, Gretchen Ennis & Ruben Maher), including a cover of Prince's 'I Would Die 4 U'. More here.

Chooky Dancers centre stage at Adelaide Festival!


Elcho Island’s Chooky Dancers will feature at this year’s Adelaide International Arts Festival (February 26 – March 14), in a collaboration with award-winning theatre director Nigel Jamieson, called ‘Ngurrumilmarrmiriyu’ (“Wrong Skin”). A huge write up in last Saturday's Weekend Australian saw 2010 Festival Director Paul Grabowsky praise the Chookies as a “phenomenon”. Read more here.

One Night Stand in Alice Springs - needs you!!


You heard right! triple j's famed One Night Stand concert is on its way to Alice Springs, providing opportunities for Alice musicians  and volunteers keen on helping out!

The j's are currently looking for a local band to open the gig - so Alice region bands and musicians, here's your big chance!! Register now at triple j Unearthed to be in with a chance to play as part of ONS in your home town! You've got until March 14 so hurry!

PLUS! Local bands will be invited to attend an Unearthed song-writing workshop, hosted by tripel j Drive host, 'The Doctor'. To be a part of that, register at triple j Unearthed.
