Wiya! Angela Pamela on top!


Another Territory song has made its presence felt on triple j Unearthed! This week Alice Springs single Wiya! Angela Pamela has climbed to #4 of the triple j Unearthed chart. The song is a collaboration between Alice outfit the Super Raelene Bros and the Little Sister's Collective - Western Arrarnta and Luritja musicians from Little Sisters Town Camp on the outskirts of Alice Springs. The song launched in Alice in December 2009. Listen to - or download - the song online at Unearthed, where you can also vote for it - (registering is free). Congratulations to all involved!

Token Blonde back on air


Katherine local radio program Token Blonde is back on the airwaves after a 2 month break. They are looking for more original NT music to play throughout 2010, so if you'd like to get some local radio exposure, get in contact with presenters Bernie (above) or Barb Flynn on the Music NT Forum. They promise an internet link to the show isn't too far away either... Check them out on Reverbnation.

NT singers warm Winter Olympics


NT singers Leah Flanagan (Leah Flanagan Band, pictured above) and Paul 'Djolpa' McKenzie (Wildwater) will perform as part of the Black Arm Band tour to the Winter Olympics in Vancouver, Canada, February 10-13. The Black Arm Band will perform with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra in Hidden Republic, an "intercultural contemporary musical presentation", with the performance "offered to the large First Nations community... as a free concert and gift to the people of Vancouver".  Read more here.

Funding for regional tours.


Australian bands and artists wishing to tour regional areas are invited to apply for Contemporary Music Touring Program grants, funded by the Federal Government. Applications close Feb 5 so get in quick! More info and submission forms here.

Go ahead and JUMP!


Attention aspiring young NT artists! An info session about the JUMP National Mentoring Scheme will be held on February 8th, 5.30-m - 7pm, at Corrugated Iron Youth Arts. JUMP directly supports the career development of artists aged 18-30. More information here.

Another big year for Gurrumul.


2010 promises to be another big year for Elcho Island world music superstar, Geoffrey Gurrumul Yunupingu. With album sales continuing to power in Europe, not only will he play two dates in Paris in April, he will feature in another TV broadcast on European television, this time on Italian TV on Feb 25. Gurrumul's debut album has also come in at #6 in the BBC's 'Best albums for 2009' World Music list. More here.
